A review of the blogs....

The first time I know that it would have to work by creating and updating a blog, I knew that this would not be like any other course of English (and I have taken several), but it would be much more interesting. In particular, I had never had a blog of any kind, and to be honest, I did`n even know how to create and maintain one, so the idea of learning was very motivating.

The first tasks were quite simple, and little by little I went familiar with the blog, and then (in leisure time) I  introduced a little more on the issue, doing simple things, like changing the colors and shapes of the blog to leave  it a little more interesting, that because the whole idea of this form of communication is motivate the reader to get interested whit the things you have to say. In my opinion, this way of learning English is very good because it forces us to revise vocabulary and to be prepared to raise the ideas that we want to communicate in this language, also this way is update to our times and finds the way to reach our way of life, closely link to computers and technology in general. 

the only criticism that i would have to say is that maybe the communication between the different blogs was not very fluent, and in general there were not many comments on the things wrote, but that does not opaque that this initiative generated much interest that the typical course of English only with written material in class.

A comment....

Pillar's blog is very interesting to read, not only because the topics she face, but also by the method of writing she has. His comments are very well organized and raised, and very easy to read. I think that she really has talent for writing. I particularly liked his comments about her favorite movie,"Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind", a great movie that I also like it very much. 

Her style of blog is a bit obscure, but it is contrasted with his way of writing very happy and spontaneous, creating a fairly good balance between these two aspects and a nice and smart result.

Her blog does not have many comments, but to be fair, I do not think that any blog of the class has many. In general I think is a good blog, entertaining and intelligent, and well worth to be read.

A film i enjoyed....

Last summer i saw “The constant gardener”. I saw it in my house, because I had to write an essay about it for a class. That film is a thriller, but not a common one, because it develops the theme of the pharmaceutical industry and its experimentation in humans in the African continent, from the personal perspective of a diplomat of the United Kingdom and his wife. The film has a very special way of narrate the story, because nothing is what initially seems to be. The English diplomat starts to investigate the disappearance of his wife, and in parallel remembers they arrive and life in Africa. The plot has many turns, and, in the end, is about the personal journey of the main character. I really enjoyed watching that film. The photography of the African landscapes and its people is beautiful. The performance of the actors is remarkable; in fact, Rachel Weisz got an Academy Award for best support actress for this film. This movie its a very delicate work in many ways, mostly because the careful treatment of its director, Fernando Meirelles (a Brazilian who previously directed “City of God”). This film is a very good example of reflexive entertainment, because it has action and mystery, but the main ingredients are the questions that raises to the public.

Beautiful Chile

Chile it’s a beautiful country that hides places to visit who can make your life a little more pleasant.
I went to the south of Chile one year ago; specifically I went to Chiloé whit my girlfriend. When we arrived she left to visit her parents, so I end it up alone. I visit all the little chapels all over the island of Chiloé, and I took them a lot of pictures. Then I meet some locals and share whit them all of my experiences. A week later I went to pick up my girlfriend to the bus terminal on Castro and we took a walk around the city. It was very interesting to chat whit the people and share experiences whit them. A few days later we set up a camp near a small place that we thought it was the most beautiful place to contemplate the ocean… and it was then when we saw a whale jumping out of the sea. My eyes were paralyzed and my soul shuddered for a moment just to see this giant whale so close to us. The next day we returned to the bus terminal to return to Santiago and end our vacations.

A work of Art...

This is a picture made by Pablo Picasso, It is call Guernica and I saw it this winter in the Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid. On my trip to Europe I saw many paints by many artists on different museums, but I like this one better than the others because of it meaning. Guernica shows the Nazi German bombing of Guernica, Spain, by twenty-eight bombers, on April 26, 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. The attack killed between 250 and 1,600 people, and many more were injured. The Spanish rulers commissioned Pablo Picasso to create a large mural for the Spanish display at the Paris International Exposition (the 1937 World's Fair in Paris). The Guernica bombing inspired Picasso. Guernica shows the tragedies of war and the suffering war inflicts upon individuals. This monumental work has eclipsed the bounds of a single time and place, becoming a perpetual reminder of the tragedies of war, an anti-war symbol, and an embodiment of peace. On completion Guernica was displayed around the world in a brief tour, becoming famous and widely acclaimed. Within fifteen days of the attack, Pablo Picasso began painting this mural. This tour brought the Spanish civil war to the world's attention.

Sports interviews...

The theme of this interview was sports. I interview three different people about sport, and this are the results:
1. Which sport do you like the best?
A: Football
B: Artistic gymnastics
C: to see, Rhythmic gymnastics, to play, badminton

2. Do you practice this sport?
A: Yes
B: I used to practice, when i was in school
C: yes, when i go to my Rapel house, where i have all the tool to play.

3. How often do you do it?
A: Once a week, sometimes twice a week
B: When i used to practice, it was twice a week
C: Once every two months, approx.

4. Do you think that doing sports is good for your life?
A: Yes, is good for mental and physical health
B: Yes
C: Yes, but i, in particularly, don't do it very often

5. Do you think that doing sports can keep children's away from drugs?
A: Yes
B: Sometimes it can, it depends on the sports
C: Yes, every thin that is related whit sports is healthy

6: Which sport do you think is the best of Chile?
A: Tennis
B: none, maybe football
C: Tennis

7. When was the last time you do any sport?
A: Three weeks ago, this because I have an injury that will not allow me to do more
B: I don't remember, maybe last semester
C: Half an hour ago, i was playing table tennis

8. Who is your favorite sports man or woman?
A: I really like Steven Gerrard, or Macherano, both players of Liverpool, because they can really control the midfield's during the game, and that is crucial for the team
B: I really don't know, but if i had to choose someone i would choose Ronaldinho
C: On his best moments i would have to choose Marcelo Salas, but now i think that the best player is Totti, from Roma F.C.

9. Which is your favorite team?
A: My favorite team is Liverpool
B: I don't have a favorite, but if i had to choose someone, i choose Universidad de Chile (but every one knows that the best team in the world is COLO-COLO)
C: I have many favorite teams, Roma F.C., Universidad de Chile, Real Madrid F.C, and Chelsea F.C. only because Joe Cole plays there

10. Do you think that the Chilean people do enough sports?
A: No, there is not a sports culture in the country, and the Chilean people is very lazy
B: No, The people is very sedentary and lazy
C: No, and that is the reason because we don't have good athletes

The best Architect...

It is very difficult to choose the best Architect, that because there are too many different styles and thoughts about Architecture. So, i will comment on a series of Architects that drawn my attention. The first one, and for many years my favourite, is Santiago Calatarava, this Spanish Architect separated from the rest for

his unique blend between architecture and engineering, thats because he is also an engineer, and the fact that he has this two carrers makes it possible for him to have a much better comprehension of the structure of his own works, adding this as part of the final design.

Another architect of great trajectory and impressive works is Rem Koolhaas. Koolhaas is the principal of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, or OMA, and of its research-oriented counterpart AMO currently based in Rotterdam. His work emphatically embraces the contradictions of two disciplines (architecture and urban design) that have struggled to maintain their humanist ideals of material honesty, the human scale and carefully crafted meaning in a rapidly globalising world that espouses material economy, machine scale and random meaning. Another key aspect of architecture Koolhaas interrogates is the "Program": with the rise of modernism in the 20th century the "Program" became the key theme of architectural design. This architect is focused much more clearly to the theory of design, the design itself.
The last, but not least, is the Japanese Architect Tadao Ando, he is the only one who has received the five most important architectural awards, including the prizker. Ando has led a storied life, working as a truck driver and boxer prior to settling on the profession of architecture, despite never having taken formal training in the field.
He works primarily in exposed cast-in-place concrete and is renowned for an exemplary craftsmanship which invokes a Japanese sense of materiality, junction and spatial narrative through the pared aesthetics of international modernism.
